How are planning to go about selecting a carrier? We may try to be ambiguous with respect to this question, however carriers have numerous benefits - wider marketing audience, commercial support, potentially sponsorship through contract obligations (ew).
Also, should we choose to be carrier-agnostic, that means non-simcard enabled carriers are completely out of question - this includes Verizon, Sprint, and anyone that I missed!
EDIT: Verizon's a big boy, too... Thoughts?

Hey! What is planned for the phone's OS? Will it be Android? Maemo (Debian, straight up!), or are there any other options? Android - means ties to google, and at the same time this is a solid backbone. HOWEVER, google has their own problems as well, and we're relying heavily on another (commercial) company to produce the software, and then altering our hardware accordingly. Debian - means Debian. Nuff said Comes along with all the beautiful linux regressions, security is also a potentially difficult step in my eyes. Or are we planning to roll our own? That can be done too, but may as well be a forum of its own
