At Ossphone, we have heard the cry of people disappointed by the manufacturers that you have come to rely on to supply you with the latest in cellphone technology. We understand your plight, and intend to come to the rescue. Our mission, live or die, is to supply you with the tools necessary to produce what YOU expect from a cellphone, to get what YOU expect out of YOUR device, and to remove limitations, wherever we can, however we can, as often as we can.
We will only accept funding from investors who understand this mission, we will only offer subsidy devices to carriers who understand this mission, and abide by it, and we will only produce devices that abide by this mission.
Some legitimate locks may have to be put in place, to protect the intellectual property of some of our suppliers, but we will offer deliverables for these devices that can be used in custom roms, and firmware images, as well as instructions to use these deliverables, in their binary form, where possible.
As a community driven project, our goal is to allow android developers to help with the development of the device, as well as port whatever software they see fit to the device, and we will benefit the developers in kind, by offering "Bounties". These bounties mean one thing, getting paid for your work, and getting your investment in hardware returned to you, so developing for our devices will cost you nothing, if you meet one of the bounties to be posted. Meeting a bounty will be by vote, and will seem a little competitive, but, as I have found, competition drives innovation, and innovation is key to a successful project.
Last, but not least, we need the support of the community in order to meet milestones in the development phase of this project, especially NOW. We need as many members as possible, in order to show our investors, prospective, and current, that there is a market for a project such as this one, and that they can expect a return on their investment. This is the key to getting this project off the ground.
Have fun, stay open, share ideas, and we will all benefit from this project in one way or another...
Thanks.
Phillip Allison, Administrator.
